4 or More: The Kickstarter. December 14, 2015
Let me start by saying that I am very proud of Gin and myself for not killing each other over the Kickstarter campaign.
Spit was spat. Blood was everywhere. Lots of table flipping. So our typical Wednesday night spread out over the course of a few weeks. It was almost as bad as the first time we played Exploding Kittens and nearly ended our friendship.
But by George, I think we’ve got it!
We kept hearing about how difficult it is to launch a Kickstarter campaign, and I’m here to tell you that the rumors are true- the whole process is crazy! A lot of thought goes into everything- the creation of an engaging video, coming up with realistic tiers, verbiage for the project, incorporating feedback… all while keeping our audience in mind and staying true to the tone of the project. We’re both very excited about how everything has turned out though! I’m excited AND nervous. It’s been a great learning experience and despite the stress, I’ve enjoyed everything.
One thing Gin and I excel at is taking an objective look at an experience (production/filming) and discussing the things that can be improved for the next time. Usually this list is kept to ourselves, but I think a post on “lessons learned when running a Kickstarter” will be in order once the process is finished (if anything to hopefully help out the next sucker who decides to do one of these). But hey. No risk, no reward, right? It’s going to be awesome.
In a few more days we’ll be ready to hit that “submit” button to start the count down and begin the REAL work. Be ready.0
