4 or More: An Update January 1, 2016

Hi Everyone! Gin and I made it to Houston!  We packed our bags, turned off the oven (I think), and packed up the cat to make the two day trek back to Texas. In true Gin and Tonic fashion, we hit the ground running and launched our Kickstarter shortly after our arrival. It’s off to a great start and we are confident that we will reach our goal!  Launching a campaign around the holidays has been interesting (it’s debatable if…

4 or More: The Kickstarter. December 14, 2015

Let me start by saying that I am very proud of Gin and myself for not killing each other over the Kickstarter campaign. Spit was spat. Blood was everywhere. Lots of table flipping.  So our typical Wednesday night spread out over the course of a few weeks.  It was almost as bad as the first time we played Exploding Kittens and nearly ended our friendship.   But by George, I think we’ve got it!   We kept hearing about how difficult it is to launch…

Hooray for new websites and new beginnings! November 12, 2015

We’ve  been going through a lot of changes recently.  All proving to be good. Some changes were scarier than others. We quit our jobs and left our beloved hot, humid Houston to check out beautiful, windy and cold Chicago to focus on filmmaking full time.  Are we crazy? Yes. I think it’s safe to say we are, but it’s been worth it.  We miss our friends dearly, but Chicago is shaping up to be a great city that we’re falling more and more…

Skye McCole Bartusiak Foundation August 10, 2015

My bearer of good news, Alex “Tonic” Hall called me early today in a great mood for a Sunday morning, and in a sing-a-song voice just asked: “Have you checked your email today?” So I smiled and ran to my computer. Enthusiastically opening the browser and typing my lengthy password prompted my impatient business partner to jab: “Do you need to hang up and call me back later?” No, I didn’t need to do that. I already knew what it…

The Baron in the Trees December 19, 2014

We had the pleasure to work with our friends at Mass Ornament Films on Anahita Ghazvinizadeh’s latest short film in her trilogy about children.  Mass Ornament Films is a Chicago-based film company focused on art house cinema productions, and is born out of the collaboration of artists Zoe Sua Cho, Yoni Goldstein  and Anahita. The filming took place in Houston and lasted over 5 days with 2 pick up days.  Jim Barham was a huge help in the making of the film as…

48 Hour Film Project 2014: Houston May 28, 2014

This was our 2nd time participating in Houston’s 48 Hour Film Project.  We view it as a great exercise in creativity, time management, and working under pressure (plus we just like to see if we can do it). Our first year we submitted our short, The Replacement, and walked away with 5 awards. – Runner Up for Group A – Best Use of Line – Best Ending – Special Jury Award – 2nd Runner Up Overall (of over 50 entries)…

Nothing Important Happened Today June 12, 2013

I’m just kidding. Today I received a phone call from the better half of this production company, Alex “Tonic” Hall, to tell me that “The Replacement” made the list of movies for the 48 Days Later Best Of/Awards screening next Wednesday, June 19th @SMG CityCentre. That gave me the motivation I needed to finally make the inaugural post on our website’s blog. It means a lot to us since our goal in this year’s festival was to see if we…
